Expect problems and eat them for breakfast

The year is flying by – can you believe it’s February already?! With one month down, it’s a good time to check in with your plan and see how you are going with your goals. What has been working well for you over the past month? And what really isn’t working for you? What could you do differently to help get you closer to your goals?

Remember that your plan is at fault, not you! So if the plan you set yourself for January didn’t get you to where you want to be, reassess your plan. The longer you sit around feeling like a failure, the more likely you are to fall off the wagon altogether. If you spend that time re-thinking what is achievable for you and making new plans to address your problem areas, you’ll be taking another step on the path to your goals. And that’s much better than giving up before you’ve even started making progress.

Get back to basics and re-read the posts about goal setting from last month:

  1. Is your goal a priority?
  2. Can you achieve it?
  3. How are you going to stay on track?

Whether you’re looking to lose weight or just improve your eating in general, I have some great posts coming up throughout this month to help you reach these goals. Breakfast is a common problem area for many people and this has always been one of my struggles (yes, us dietitians still have food issues ourselves!), so later this week I will be sharing some healthy breakfast ideas to help you get that all important healthy start to your day.

What do you think?
